New Year's sale - Fare facts
Fares are each way based on required roundtrip purchase for United Economy® travel on United Airlines®, Ted®, Lufthansa, and United Express® carriers. For tickets purchased through United reservation offices or at airport ticket counters, additional reservation fees will apply: $25 for United reservation office bookings and $30 for airport ticket counter bookings. No reservation fees are added for tickets purchased at united.com. Fees are subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply. Fares purchased through other distribution channels may also be higher. When purchasing from United, always go to united.com to find United's lowest fares. Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights/dates.
Purchase Requirements: Tickets for U.S. and Canada destinations must be purchased at least 14 days in advance, but no later than 1/7/09. Tickets for Atlantic and Asian destinations must be purchased at least 7 days in advance, but no later than 1/7/09. Tickets for travel to Australia do not have an advance purchase requirement, but all ticketing must be completed by 1/7/09. Sale fares apply to U.S. and Canada point-of-sale only. Reservations and ticket purchases on united.com must be completed simultaneously.
Travel Days/Dates: U.S. fares are valid for travel between 1/14/09-3/4/09, fares for travel between 3/5/09-4/30/09 are slightly higher. Canada fares are valid for travel between 1/14/09-2/11/09, fares for travel between 2/12/09-4/30/09 are slightly higher. All travel within the U.S. and to/from Canada must be completed by 4/30/09. Atlantic fares are valid for travel on Mon-Thurs (Mon-Wed for travel to Great Britain) for travel between 12/31/08-4/2/09. Asia fares are valid for travel on Mon-Thurs for travel between 1/1/09-3/31/09. Australia fares are valid for travel on all days of the week for travel between 1/14/09-4/30/09.

Min./Max. Stay: For travel within the U.S. a 3-night, Saturday night, or Sunday night minimum stay is required and a maximum stay of 30 days is permitted. For travel to Hawaii, a maximum stay of 60 days is permitted. For travel to/from Canada, no minimum or maximum stay requirements exist for one way fares. For travel to Atlantic destinations, a Saturday night minimum stay is required and a maximum stay of 30 days is permitted. For travel to Asia, a 6-night minimum stay is required and a maximum stay of 60 days is permitted. For travel to Australia, no minimum or maximum stay restrictions apply.
Additional Taxes/Fees: U.S./Puerto Rico/U.S. Virgin Islands fares do not include a $3.50 per flight segment tax. A flight segment is defined as one takeoff and one landing. Fares do not include the September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 per enplanement at a U.S. airport or Passenger Facility Charges of up to $18, which may be collected depending on the itinerary. Fares for Hawaii and Alaska do not include a $7.70 (each way) departure tax. For travel from Canada, fares do not include U.S. Inspection fees of $7, taxes/fees imposed by the Canadian government of up to $19.50, and a $30.20 international departure and arrival tax if outside of the 225 mile buffer zone. All international fares are subject to U.S. arrival and departure taxes and agricultural, immigrations and customs fees of up to $50. For travel to some countries, additional airport, transportation, embarkation, security, and passenger service taxes/surcharges of up to $250 will apply depending on destination. For return travel from some countries, fares do not include airport and/or departure taxes of up to $45, which may be collected by the foreign government.
Itinerary Changes. U.S. and Canada tickets are non-refundable. No changes may be made after ticketed departure date for any portion of the ticket. Tickets whose reservations are cancelled prior to the ticketed departure date are valid for travel one year from the original issuance date for a service charge ($150 for domestic U.S./Canada, $250 for Atlantic/Pacific). Changes made on or before departure are subject to fare rules and a service charge ($150 for domestic U.S./Canada, $250 for Atlantic/Pacific). If a reservation is not cancelled before the ticketed departure date, the ticket has no value.
