CHICAGO, June 5, 2008 – UAL Corporation (NASDAQ: UAUA), the holding company whose primary subsidiary is United Airlines, today announced that Marc Ugol has been named senior vice president of Human Resources. In this role, Ugol will provide strategic leadership to United's worldwide human resources functions, including talent strategy, personnel policies and issues, benefits and compensation.
“Marc’s 22 years of proven HR leadership will support the changes we need to make to successfully compete in today’s challenging market,” said Pete McDonald, chief administrative officer and executive vice president. “He brings to United and our employees several best practices from a variety of fast-changing industries that will strengthen our HR functions and create a world-class organization.”
Ugol joins United from Constellation Energy where he served as senior vice president of Human Resources and had overall responsibility for the company’s human resources division, overseeing all compensation and benefits, staffing, labor relations and organizational effectiveness.
Prior to Constellation Energy, Ugol held strategic human resources leadership positions in the high-tech industry from 1994 through 2002 when it experienced rapid changes. His experience includes companies such as Tellabs, Platinum Technology International and System Software Associates. From 1980-1994, Ugol served in various human resources roles at Amoco Corporation.
Ugol will assume his role on June 16 and will report to McDonald.
